Nuclear Commands
================
[A]ttack other nations: launch a nuclear attack on one or more countries you
are at war with. Nuclear attacks on other countries will probably entail
retaliation from the allies of the nation you attack. Use your intelligence
commmands and diplomacy view command before launching. Nuclear attacks do
not use up your commodities like conventional ones.
[B]uild forces: according to this table
MET NON IND TEC Money (millions of $)
=== === === === =====
each Minuteman 5 7 20 18 2
each MX missile 10 13 30 70 14
each submarine 13 15 50 60 18
each bomber 7 5 43 50 13
each space platform 50 60 85 170 40
each defense % point 5 7 10 20 3
(all commodities are taken from the national stockpile)
Minuteman missiles carry 1 warhead, while MX's carry 10. Both of these
weapons are vulnerable to a first strike by the other side.
Submarines also carry 10 warheads, but have the added advantages of being
impervious to a first strike AND the ability to hit their targets without
interference from enemy defense systems. Bombers carry 5 warheads, and
cannot be destroyed in an enemy attack. The space platform is a rich man's
bomber, carrying 30 warheads.
[D]estroy forces: START talks, anyone?
[Q]uit to main menu
[R]etaliation levels: that's your retaliation levels for allies and friends.
[U]pgrade defense: this one's expensive, but it may save your country from
total nuclear devastation. It's the SDI equivalent.
[V]iew forces: enough to make a patriotic heart palpitate wildly.
** Note: maintaining a nuclear arsenal costs a bit of money; in particular,
each month you will be debited at the following rates:
Each Minuteman: $500
Each MX: $3000
Each submarine: $9000
Each bomber: $5000
Each space platform: $25000
Each defense percentage point: $2500
